After finishing university Dan worked as a journalist spending 12 years abroad working through Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the USA. His passion for the travel and remote locations was cemented on 40-day trek across the Sahara desert from Timbuktu to Zagora.
On returning to Australia he made the move to Film & TV working initially as a photographer then AD. In 2006 he went to Broome to work on Mediaworld/SBS drama landmark drama series The Circuit, leading to the discovery and exploration of the Kimberley that kept extending further and further into the Australian Outback. Subsequent years were spent between Sydney and the outback moving with the seasons, and by default this knowledge and exploration of the outback became increasingly useful in his work in film & tv and lead to the establishment of 17 South and its regional and outback location and production services.
